The trials confirmed suitability of the platform for operation in an airport environment. Evocargo’s autonomous vehicles are designed to automate logistics in the airport’s ramp zone, including the transportation of cargo between aircraft and airport terminals.
The technology is powered by artificial intelligence, computer vision, and a multi-sensor perception system. These solutions enable the vehicles to navigate autonomously within operational environments, detect obstacles, and perform logistics tasks without a human driver.
The tests focused on performance of the new platform under high-stress conditions at the airport, including round-the-clock activity, peak workload periods, intensive ramp traffic, and severe winter weather. The results showed that the autonomous platform can perform its tasks efficiently in such conditions.
Over the course of the trials, the platform operated for 368 hours, completed 150 test routes, covered 225 kilometers, and was tested in temperatures ranging from -26°C to +31°C.
The project has significant practical value for the advancement of autonomous logistics in the airport industry. In the future, the implementation of such solutions is expected to improve the reliability and predictability of ground operations, ensure continuity during periods of high cargo traffic, and reduce cargo-handling operating costs by 20–35%.
Specialists have prepared recommendations for further improvement of the platform based on results of the trials. These improvements will be incorporated into the next stage of the project as the technology moves toward large-scale implementation.
